NASA to Bomb the Moon Friday

The moon. It has captured the imagination of mankind since the beginning of time. So, come Friday morning... we're going to bomb it.
NASA's "L-CROSS" mission involves an un-manned rocket that will be followed by a separate satellite. That satellite will transmit live TV images and scientific data back to Earth.
the rocket will slam into a crater on the moon. Scientists hope this will cause a plume of rocks and dust and possibly ice to come flying off the moon.

Shortly after, the satellite will fly through the same plume and collect information and send it back to NASA scientists. It's a mission that's caught the eye of Marshall's Physics Department Chair Nico Orsini.
"We want to find out is there water, and how much of it," Orsini said. "So, this is all very exciting "
But there are some who are weary of the mission. Whether it's the billions of dollars being spent, or just the actual bombing of the moon itself. But members of the scientific community say it is worth it.
"If you take one quart of water to the moon by spaceship, it costs $30,000," Orsini said. "So, the best scenario would be to have water on the moon.
Folks back here on Earth have several different options to watch Friday's lunar bombing. First, it will be on NASA TV. Check your cable or satellite provider to find out the channel listing.
